Olive trees (leaves, olives, bark and roots) contain 8 natural phytochemical components that are potent anti-microbial agents (ie. they kill germs). There are probably more than these 8. But so far, they are the total number of natural chemicals that scientists and medical laboratories have discovered: oleuropein, caffeic acid, verbascoside, luteolin 7-O-glucoside, rutin, apigenin 7-O-glucoside and luteolin 4’-O-glucoside, and maslinic acid. Oleuropein was discovered by Merck Pharmaceuticals in 1969 which they tried to isolate from elenoic acid, a chemical found in the olive leaves as part of their quest to develop a natural anti-viral drug. Phase I testing (in test tubes) did kill the viruses. But phase II clinical trials failed. The reason the clincals failed was because the isolation and removal of oleuropein from the olive leaves made it an unstable chemical that then combined with blood serum proteins, rendering it totally ineffective. Most recently, University of Granada chemists click here discovered maslinic acid, a chemical found in both olive oil and olive leaves can slow down the spread of HIV virus by 80% from cell to cell. The point Seagate is trying to make is that there are probably many more natural phytochemicals in the olive tree still to be discovered that work together to protect this plant from insects, viruses, bacteria, parasites, mold, fungus, and every other germ known to attack plants. These chemicals work together as a team to protect the olive tree, which has evolved over tens of thousands of years to be one of Nature’s heartiest plants. Most companies that sell olive leaf extract do not process their own raw material, nor do they have any idea about active phytonutrients, other than oleuropein, which they may list on their labels by its percentage indicating that this is the measure of strength and try and compare their level to other competing brands. Unfortunately these companies created this myth through misinformation about the real potency and purity of the valuable olive and its oleuropein content. Remember that in 1969 Merck found that isolating oleuropein from the olive leaf diminished its potency.
This brings us back to the oleuropein content claim in olive leaf extract. There is a major difference between companies that have no involvement in the production or harvest of their own products vs. those companies that have taken the time, $, and effort to try and do it right – and keep the balance and quality of phytochemicals provided in each plant by Nature … because when you really understand the quality and reasons for potency of these various raw materials, the lesson to be learned is that Nature made it right. |

Seagate Products Blog

There is a big difference between a company that actually does its own farming, produces its own raw materials and processes them into the finished extract or other final products as compared to companies that whose only involvement in the production is in making their labels and shipping invoices. It takes a major investment in time, energy, knowledge and technical expertise, machinery, land, building people etc. to actually produce and process a raw material. It takes no effort to order up some product from a trading company or raw materials broker. In reality those companies are just glorified private labels that really have no idea of the origin, strength, and true components of their raw materials. When we became involved in the health food industry over 15 years ago, it was made up predominantly of small companies doing their own farming or herb gathering and making their best efforts to produce the highest quality products possible. Now, there are thousands of “health food manufacturers” mostly companies operating out of offices, having things labeled for them, who have really no idea of the veracity of the product packed in their bottles. Unfortunately, China has become the biggest supplier of raw materials to the U.S. health food industry … now you can guess what is going on here.

Hello Richard,
I have listened to you on Know the Cause and have been taking OLE myself for several months. I now have my entire family taking OLE.
I have learned that OLE is a powerful anti-fungal. Then, last week you stated OLE cures ecoli, mold and other bacteria on contact.
Here is where I need your expertise: My son works on a horse farm and they have a foal who is about 4 weeks old and has developed “Joint Ill” which the vets have tried every antibiotic and drug imaginable with no results.
They now say there is no choice but to “put the foal down”.
I say: “wrong again” what about OLE? Can the horse eat the capsules? If the capsules are ok…how many should be given and how many times a day?
I understand that a horse’ stomach is different than our human stomach…does that affect how the OLE will digest?
Could OLE be injected by the Veterinarian? What quantity should be given to the horse (do we dilute one capsule in a cup of water or in 2 ounces of water) (how much should we inject into the joint and how often)? The colt probably weighs 250# and is very feisty.
I just hate to see them kill the horse without trying some natural products to get rid of the bacteria. Could you give me your opinion and I will pass it on to the Owner.
Thank you, Tennessee55
Seagate Answers - I definately would not put the horse down. However understanding that I am not a doctor and we do absolutely no animal testing I can answer you the following way. I don’t think I would try injecting a powder by syringe and run the danger of it accidentally plugging up a blood vessel. However the Olive Leaf Nasal Spray and Olive Leaf Throat Sprays are liquids which with your Vets approval, could theoretically be injected by syringe. But what I personally would do if I had this situation is just throw a bunch of the olive leaf extract capsules
in with the feed in a bucket. We have had many people successfully giving this product to animals (dogs, cats, and even horses). So far there has never been any reported side-effect from humans or animals taking it other than the “Herxheimer” reaction caused by the mycotoxins released during a fungal die-off — which is actually a good thing because it shows the product was working. Thank you. Hope this helps — Richard

Hello,
I am 59, work 6 days a week, pretty active and have recently begun the Phase One Diet from KnowtheCause.com.
How do you determine the optimum number of OLE capsules an individual should take every day?
SEAGATE answers- As a general rule, if you are healthy 2-4 capsules/day; but if you begin to feel sick, then I would bombard it with 3 capsules 3X/day and even go as high as 5 capsules 3X/day and try to get rid of the bug before it gets established. If you are on Doug Kaufmann’s Phase I antifungal diet then I would keep a steady 6 to 9 capsules/day. This is not a medicine and there are no specific rules … just our 12 years producing the product and seeing results with tens of thousands of people and with Doug Kaufmann. Thanks-Richard

Are there any possible side effects to shark fin cartilage or shark cartilage? I bought the shark fin cartilage for my brother-in-law who has had a growth for years below his left armpit. It has grown in size gradually. I thought because of its antiangiogenesis effect, this product might be helpful?
SEAGATE responds - We have been producing both products since 1993 and the only side-effect ever reported is the occasional allergic reaction to either product if a person is very sensitive to fish. Since we are not doctors, I can answer your question the following way — If I thought this were tumor-related I would go to a doctor and get a proper diagnosis but also I would use the shark cartilage. There is a lot of info available the anti-angiogenesis effect of shark cartilage. Seagate even performed independent lab tests on both products and they really do stop blood vessels from growing when injecting very small amounts (1 microgram) into chciken embryos. However, if this growth were possibly fungal-related I would get on a good antifungal such as diflucan (short term) and long term on olive leaf extract and an antifungal diet such as Doug Kaufmann’s Phase I diet. If this turns out just to be a harmless cyst, I would have it cut out. Hope this helps.

I definitely know that OLE will help the sinus…after going to a theraputic dose and two days of cleaning out, my sinuses are much better….my only problem is that now my already low blood pressure has dipped lower…Mark
Seagate responds - We are happy to hear the Olive Leaf is helping you. However, neither Olive Leaf Extract capsules nor the more dilute Olive Leaf Nasal Spray have any effect on blood pressure. If this is an issue, you should probably increase your salt consumption and get professional medical advice.

Did I hear on Know the Cause, that CVS pharmacy may also carry your products? So far I haven’t seen any in my area.
Seagate replies - No that must have been said by someone on that show by mistake — we do not yet sell to CVS. We do however sell the Stop Rash to Walgreens. It is in the “adult incontinence” department. We understand that this depatment in Walgreens will be losing shelf space by mid-2009 and we likely will not continue to deliver Stop Rash to that chain.

What would be the oleuropein conten t found in just the raw ground olive leaf? Is there any advantage to taking just fresh ground olive leaf?
Seagate replies- Hello Gary:The oleuropein content represents less than 1/4% concentration in the whole olive leaf. However, you are missing the most important point of the information we are trying to provide the public. Oleuropein is just one of 8 phytochemicals discovered so far in the olive leaf that are active, antimicrobial, antioxidant and have many other important qualities. The other 7 phytochemicals that so far have been discovered in the olive leaf are: caffeic acid, verbascoside, luteolin 7-O-glucoside, rutin, apigenin 7-O-glucoside, luteolin 4’-O-glucoside and maslinic acid. As just one example of the power of one of these ingredients take a look at this article from the U. of Granada about maslinic acid which is found in both the olive oil and the olive leaf. So eating olive leaves is good. But getting a higher concentrate of these phytochemicals from the olive leaf extract is a lot easier and more effective.

Allergy testing years ago indicated that olive trees were one of many allergens that affected me. Within the last year I was diagnosed with Valley Fever (fungal) and have since been following Doug Kaufman’s show. I would like to try your olive leaf product that he talks about. Should I be concerned about a possible allergic reaction taking it orally, or was the olive leaf sensitivity only airborne pollen? I regularly use olive oil in cooking and eat olives with no reaction.
Seagate replies — Lynda, if you would like to be sure, contact our office 1-888-505-4283 and give us your address so that we can send you samples of the olive leaf extract to try out. Most likely your allergy was to pollen. But it would be a good idea to try 3 or 4 capsules and see if there is any reaction.

Hello Richard, I have watched you on Doug’s show sense 1999 I had gotten sick because I had taken so many antibiotics, I started using Olive leaf and I have not been to a Dr. except 1 time for other reason since then. I use olive leaf for sores my grandson had on his face. My grandson has not had a antibiotic in 5 years that is a Record. thank you God Bless
Seagate Responds - Hi Ruth. I am so happy the product has helped you and your grandson. Thank you for taking the time to post your comment and to let everyone see your results. Best wishes to you and your family - Richard
January 7th, 2009 at 7:24 am
richard….you stated olive oil has the same properties as olive leaf extract……what is the equivilant dose from 1 tbsp oil to oee? thanks
Seagate responds - We have tested the olive leaf nasal, throat, and earache products (olive leaf based products) against a variety of germs and got similar results as when we tested the Bye Bye Diaper Rash, Stop Rash and OliveViate (olive oil based). However, the olive oil products also have coconut oil, shark liver oil, vit. E and different homeopathics which combine to help along with the olive oil. If you are looking for a definitive answer of what is the equivalent of olive oil to olive leaf extract, it is not a simple answer. (Sorry.) We have found in testing that taking the olive leaf extract caps work best internally and the olive oil works best externally. It is a situation where you are trying to do an “apples with oranges” comparison — the olive oil and olive leaf extract are very different based upon the method of actual use.

I have been taking Seagate olive leaf off and on for over 2 years with great results. I was wondering if olive leaf loses its effectiveness when taken for long periods of time.
Thank you so much,
April
Seagate replies - Hi April — After 12 years processing and selling this product and with many many customers using it over extended periods of time (ie. every day as a preventative)we can tell you that there is no problem nor loss of effectiveness. We used to just recommend taking it when needed. However, after learning more about the 8 plus phytochemicals in the olive leaf beside oleuropein and the wonderful antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-parasitic and antiviral properties we now recommend that it be taken daily as a preventative.

was diagnosed with Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis [lung fungal infection.] Taking Itraconazole, but the addition of Olive Leaf Extract[(3), 2x/day] and OLE nasal spray have rapidly accelerated the drop in my IgE from 1600 to below 1000. On the Phase 1 diet and void of sugars and carbs. Wish I had known about this approach years ago. Too many anti-biotics exacerbated the problem. Am doing a lot better now !!…
Seagate comments - That is great news … thank you for letting everyone know!

Hi Richard,
So good to have this blog to ask questions and receive real answers! Here is my situation: I have had Multiple Chemical Sensitivities since 2002, after living in a moldy house (black mold in the walls and ceiling) for two years…also a gas furnace leak that was undetected. I have not been tested for mold other than Candida which were always negative. However, I am certain that I have a fungal overgrowth in my body, even after two years of using a good probiotic (Metagenics) and trying to stick to an anti-fungal diet. I have not been very strict though. I use the SeaGate OLE nasal spray occasionally, since I can smell mold inside my sinuses, especially on a cold day outdoors when I take a deep nasal breath. A year ago I bought some Olive Leaf Extract capsules (Nature’s Way brand), which has 12% Oleuropein…250mg and Olive leaf 250mg in it. I took one capsule before bedtime and when I woke up in the morning I had vertigo so severely that I could not stand up and walk for the dizziness. This lasted the entire day! I attributed it to the Olive Leaf Extract I took.
I have not taken any since then. My fungal problem is entrenched enough, I think, that I must do something else.
Please comment about this.
Thank you!
Ruth, Wisconsin
SEAGATE responds - Hello Ruth. The solution to fungus is a relatively simple in concept but difficult to actually accomplish as you have experienced. I highly recommend you buy Doug Kaufmann’s book The Fungal Link and go on his Phase I diet. It is a difficult diet to maintain, but quite effective. Any antifungals that you take would be self-defeating if you are going to be feeding the fungus at the same time with poor diet. Second, long term, I would be taking the Olive Leaf Extract – a good one, not just any brand. You should read the info on our blog site to understand that there are very few companies like Seagate that actually process their own olive leaf extract — we even pick our leaves; and oleuropein is not the measure of potency for olive leaf extract. That is just one of over 8 phytochemicals including oleuropein that combine to make olive leaf extract effective. Companies that just put oleuropein on the front panel of their bottle label as their measure of potency probably do not make the product themselves and likely have no idea what or why it is effective. It does not surprise me that people might not get results or actually get poor results with product from companies that do not manufacture their own extracts themselves. There is a lot of olive leaf extract powder currently coming into the U.S. via China. I hope this info helps you. — Richard

Hi, Richard. I first heard about OLE while watching Doug Kaufmann. I have since got everyone I know to take it. I have fibromyalgia and my immune system i used to get every bug that came along. Now, as soon as I think I’m getting something I start with 3-6 or even 9 capsules a day and within a few days I can slowly drop the dosage. In the past four years I have had only two really bad sinus infections and that was because I didn’t recognize the symptoms fast enough. My friends start a maintenance dose of OLE every winter and don’t stop until they are clear of the season! Thank you for OLE.
Seagate responds - Hi Sharon. Great news! We are so glad that it has helped. One other thing– we have had very good long-term feedback from women using shark cartilage for fibromyalgia. We learned about this after Doug Kaufmann did a lecture in Dallas ten years ago to an audience of fibromyalgia suffers (virtually all were women) and recommended that they go on the shark cartilage.

Every time I try to give my Wife OLE capsules or throat spray, she gets a headache, and for that reason doesn’t want to try it any longer. It doesn’t do that to me, and I take it every day. What do you think the problem is?
Seagate responds - Hi Ron. There are 2 possibilities- #1 We get a few of calls (ie maybe 3 or 4 out of hundreds of thousands using this product) each year from people who just cannot take the olive leaf extract, probably because of an allergic reaction; or #2 More likely she is experiencing the “Herxheimer reaction” which is the result of a fungal die-off. When this occurs, it can give people flu-like symptoms if their are allergic to the mycotoxins given off when the fungi cell walls break and the mycotoxins are released. In this case, the symptoms will go away in a couple of days and it is best to back off from using the product for a little while. This is actually a good thing to happen because it means the product is actually helping get rid of the fungi.

Richard….I have been taking your Olive Leaf Extract and a couple of others also ever since you were on Know The Cause (my absolute must see everyday program). I have made it a point now every few weeks to call my health food store to inquire if they have the Seagate products. I am trying to make it sound like many people are inquiring so maybe they will start stocking your products. I go to Betsy’s Health Food Store on FM1960 here in Houston. I will keep on calling them because I think your products are the very best to be had and people should be taking them. Thank you. Judy
Seagate responds - Judy, we really appreciate your support and effort. If a store is so unresponsive to their customers’ requests, they may not value your business as much as another nearby store. These days, you would think that a retail outlet would listen to their customers. Thank you for your loyalty … we do appreciate your business and for being a loyal fan of Doug’s show.

Just wondering, what are your thoughts about vaccines?? I just had a baby and she is 4 months old. She is due to go get her second round of shots. I am just so hesitant about all of this. I know we are suppose to keep them safe and healthy, I just need some direction knowing I am doing the right thing for my baby. Any solutions or adivse?
Thank you
Seagate replies -Dear Tara — We are not qualified to give out medical advice. In situations like this, if you do not trust your physician’s recommendations, it might be best to seek a second opinion …. or another physician.

I am scheduled to have periodontal surgery that will include use of membrane and bone grafts. What do you recommend for presurgery prep. I know I will be given antibiotics for a few days. Thanks for the help.
Seagate replies - We recently had the experience that one of our office staff have 3 implants. In advance, she went on the olive leaf extract. Then after the surgery, she continued on the olive leaf capsules and also used the olive leaf throat spray to irrigate her mouth until the sites of the implants stopped clotting and had healed.

For years I have had prostate
problems and,to date, refused to go the cut, burn and poison route.
For the past 10 months I’ve been
treated by acupuncture and Chinese
herbs with slow but positive results.
Do you think any of the Olive Leaf products would help to speed up the prostate health recovery?
?Norm
Seagate replies - Hello Norman - We are not allowed to prescribe for medical conditions, especially for cancer. So I can answer you this way — Olive Leaf Extract would be one of two thing I might use. However, my main focus would be on using either the shark cartilage or shark fin cartilage.

Hello Richard
First i just want to say thank you for the most amazing product
ever put on the market.I have been taking this product along with my husband and 2 teenagers for over 5 years now.I was diagnosed 7 years ago with fybro myalgia and was in such bad shape i could barely get off the couch, it was during this time that i saw Doug Kaufmann on TV. It was my answer to prayer, they were talking about fybro myaglia that day and i went on the phase 1 diet and done exactly as he recommended and within 2 months i was a new person.I could be a spokes person for olive leaf and caprilic acid.I still take olive leaf on a fairly regular bases and my family or i have not had the flu or the stomach viruses in 5 years. My kids know that it works and if they are around there friends that are sick they come home and say, mom where is the olive leaf.My friends know me as the olive leaf lady, because i am always recommending it to someone . I LOVE this product and will take it the rest of my life! Thank you again Richard ! Mary
Seagate replies - Thank you Mary for your kind words. We are very happy to hear that these products have helped you! - Richard

Hello Richard
I am a new listener of “Know the cause” but I’m so glad I found Doug’s show. I have had multiple health problems in the past. I had fallopian tube cancer 6 yrs ago. This was a rare cancer of a “strange epithelial type” according to my Dr. I did survive chemo only because I was basically healthy and had a strong will to live. I have had sinus problems for yrs, and yrs. Acid reflux for as long as I can remember. I am a type 2 diabetic,I also have a low thyroid. I am on the phase 1 diet now and have already stopped my aciphex for reflux, my blood sugar is down 20 mg/dl and the sinus infection I had is gone as well. I used the olive nasal spray and it really helped. I am taking caprylic acid 3 x a day, betaglucan 2x a day,and psyllium at bed time. I have probiotics but was not sure if I should be taking them now or not. I am slightly confused as to the regime that I should be following. I don’t know if I should try to totally flush my system first or not. I have all of Doug’s books and the gut flush book asd well. I found the gut flush book kinda complicated. And there are so many anti fungals out there and so many supplements I am overwhelmed at this point. I am an R.N. and I am convinced that I have a fungal problem and have had this for yrs so I want to do this thing right whatever it takes. But I do not want to spend money and not be effective. Could you advise me on how to start this anti-fungal process. I ordered my products from the seagate co. and have faith in your products. I also visited Joan and Blake in Mountain Home Ar. last week. I am planning on coming to Doug’s lecture in March in Mountain Home. There are no Dr.’s in this area that would even listen or help if they could not do it their way. There are a few herbalist tho. but after watching you on Doug’s show I have confidence in you. I am also a small business owner. I have a garden center and do work with some fertlizers and pesticides.
Thank You so much
Paula
Seagate replies — Hi Paula - The first thing we would recommend, as organic farmers, is to stay away from the pesticides. You are slowly poisening yourself and your land. As far as getting started on an antifungal program, the steps are simple — get on Doug’s Phase I Diet and take the olive leaf extract 3 capsules 3X/day. The hard part is sticking to the diet. You are welcome to contact our office and learn about the Fish Fertilizer Concentrate that we produce. Healthy organic plants are much more resistant to pests than plants grown with chemical fertilizers and pesticides. It might be an interesting idea to also offer a natural fertilizer in your store for your customers.

I was wondering if it was OK to give Olive Leaf Extract to a dog. My yellow lab has reoccuring yeast infections in his ears. If it is safe to give to dogs, will it cure a yeast infection? Thank you!
Seagate replies - Hi Katie - First of all, we need to let you know that we do not do any animal-testing. However, be assured that the olive leaf extract is safe for dogs and even small children. By yeast infection, I assume you mean candida, a fungal infection. Many of our customers that take the olive leaf extract capsules use it for fungal disorders. However, I have a better suggestion for you — try the OliveViate a topical homeopathic antifungal oil that you can rub right on the skin or in this case into the dog’s ears. If you prefer a spray, we have the Stop Rash which is also antifungal and might be easier for you to apply.

How can I give OLE to my toddler? She had a bladder infection which has been treated by antibiotics—which in turn caused a yeast infection. She can’t swallow capsels. What do you suggest?
Seagate replies - Hi Liz - The olive leaf extract has a natural bittler taste. So, if you were going to open a capsule and empty the powder into a food for the toddler, you need to pick out something that the child likes and that can mask the taste. People have used things such as applesauce, mashed potatoes, warm cereal etc.

My 8 year old grandson was diagnosed with strep throat mid November. He took a round of generic bactrim. About 3 or 4 days after he finished it, he started having symptoms again. The doctor put him on a 10 day round of bactrim.
A couple of days after he finished that, he started having symptoms again. This time he was taken to a pediatrician who said that bactrim doesn’t work in children to get rid of the strep bacteria, so now he is 6 days into a 10 day round with a different antibiotic, I’m not sure what this one is.
The swelling in his throat has come down considerably, but it is still quite swollen.
My question is this, would the olive leaf spray be effective against strep if sprayed in his throat, and if so, could this be used while he is taking the current antibiotic or would we need to wait until he has finished the antibiotic.
Also, what would be the suggested dosage of the olive leaf spray for him.
Any advice is appreciated.
Seagate replies - Hello Vickie - We have never had a single case reported of a drug interaction from the Olive Leaf Throat Spray, nor any other of our homeopathic medicines. So you would not have a problem using it along with the antibiotic. While we have tested this product against a long list of bacteria, fungi, and mold, and other germs, we are not allowed to claim that it is an antibiotic … because it is a homeopathic medicine. We are allowed to treat symptoms but not claim to cure a disease. However, I am certain that your son will feel much better once he has started using it. You can use it as frequently as you like until the “symptoms” go away. You cannot overdose on these homeopathic medicines.

Hi
My dog has a hot spot. went to vet. product I was given is a nystatin-neomycin… ointment. I used it off and on doesn’t seem to be working all that great the spot is taking a while to heal completely. Can open cap of OLE and make a paste for wound? I know you don’t do animal testing, but what do you think? I just started the OLE today. I will let you know how I feel at a later date. Thank You Laura
Seagate replies - Hi Laura - Although we do not do animal testing, we have had a lot of customers report back using the Stop Rash on dogs, cats and even horses with some very nasty skin problems. While you can make a paste from the OLE, the Stop Rash was designed for this application and absorbs much better than wet powder.

In response to Tara-
In my research into vaccines, it is my understanding you can get vaccines WITHOUT the harmful preservatives (mercury, etc.) from responsible Drs. who practice homeopathic medicine. This may be a good alternative for you.

Skin lesions and “hotspots” may be linked to grain allergy???. I used a olive oil and olive leaf paste to help heal the sores and put my Shih Tzus on a lamb and rice food - the skin and hair is beautiful now. Hope this helps your babies too.

Hi,
I just ordered Olive Leaf Extract, and wondered if it will affect the effectiveness of the live bacteria in yogurt which I take on a daily basis. I also take multi-vitamins daily. Any adverse effect on these? Thank you for the opportunity to submit questions about our concerns.
Seagate replies - Hi Toni - Olive leaves have been part of our food chain for thousands of years. Neither the leaves nor the extract will disturb the good bacteria in your body. There has never been any adverse effect reported to us in the 12 years producing this product other than an occasional mild allergic reaction.
January 13th, 2009 at 11:53 am
Hi Richard, Is OLE effective against H-Pylori bacteria? If so, what dosage/how often. We have used the OLE Throat Spray for years. It works!
Thanks,
Richard replies - Hi Kate - We are not allowed to claim it, but the product you would want to take is the Broccoli. In fact Doug talks alot about the broccoli and H. Pylori. Olive Leaf Extract capsules probably would also help. But I’d focus on the broccoli first, if budget were a concern and you had to pick one. Thank you for your support!

Hello Richard: I just placed an order for your OLE and nasal spray. I believe I have some type of fungal invasion of my body. Since my late teens I have had very bad dandruff. And, shortly after, I developed a bad rash on my back. My doctor says it was caused by a fungus and prescribed selsun shampoo, which caused it to go away, but it comes back if I stop using it. When I reached my late 20’s, my right nostril developed a stuffiness. At first, I thought it was just nasal congestion. However, as time went on, it gradually got worse. I eventually went to an ENT doctor who could not find wrong. He referred me to an allergist, who, after a battery of skin tests, that I had severe allergies. By this time, not only was my nose stuffy, but my right ear was stuffy as well and small deposits of substances resembling wax or dandruff began to accumulate in my ears. My allergist said I had severe allergies, sinusitis, and eustachian tube dysfunction, which was causing my dizziness. Also, I was devoid of energy. He immediately prescribed allergy shots.

continued:From time to time, he would give me a steroid shot and put me on prednisone for a few days. The shot and prednisone gave me much needed relief, but the symtoms always came back. By this time, the allergies had manifested themselves in shortness of breath and difficulty concentrating. Needless to say, I am still suffering from allergies and had just resigned myself to living with them until some other relief came along. Like I stated earlier, I believe that some type of fungus is the cause and it was first manifested with the real bad dandruff, which I have today. I believe your products will provide some relief, based on what I have read in this blog and your own comments.
Thanks!!
Richard replies - Dear Charles - Here is an application for you that may seem unusual but has worked well. Try spraying either the Ilive Leaf Nasal Spray of the Olive Leaf Throat Spray (the plain version, not raspberry-spearmint) onto your scalp. Rub it it and let it absorb. See if that doesn’t help. I would also start taking the olive leaf extract capsules on a regular basis and the olive leaf nasal spray to help open up the air passages. Most important of all is diet — go to Doug Kaufmann’s webstite and purchase his book - The Fungal Link which contains his Phase I diet. I would highly recommend that you begin with that diet along with the olive leaf extract capsules, and see if a lot of those symptoms slowly begin to improve. The combination rarely fails to make people feeel a lot better. Hope that helps you …Richard

I started taking Olive Leaf Extract about 6 months ago. I am happy to report that my toenail fungus is going away!!! I have tried other “natural” products but nothing worked until I tried the OLE. Thank you for this wonderful product!! Have you had any reports of anyone with Lyme Disease using this product?
Seagate replies - Hi Nancy - We have had a lot of feedback like yours from people using the OLE on toenail fungus. But so far have not heard from anyone using it for Lyme’s Disease.

I saw on “Know the Cause”, you make a comment about taking the marine protein, and an apple for lunch and it filling you up until supper. Would it be a good product for weight loss?
Thank You,
Lou Ann Cooper
Seagate replies - Hi Lou Ann- The Marine Protein has a 75% protein level. It seems that the combination of having a high protein plus something (the apple) in the stomach to give it something to work on somehow shuts off the hunger mechanism for a while. I use this apple/Marine Protein combo for lunch so that I don’t eat extra calories. It would also work to lose weight. The Nopal Cactus would also help you feel full, by absorbing water and temporarily expanding in the stomach to give you the feeling of being full without actually having a stomach full of food. - Richard

Dear Sir
Have a friend that has lupus and breast cancer
Been told she has to take lots of pills daily to control pain
Can u suggest any of your products for her?
thanks!
Hello Anna - The FDA doesn’t allow us to prescribe our products for diseases, especially cancer. However, I can answer you this way—- If I had this problem I would begin with a couple of things:
#1 Diet - Go off all the junk food, sugars, processed foods and high carb foods and get on a diet high in protein and vegetables such as Doug Kaufmann’s Phase I diet. You can find this diet in his book The Fungal Link.
#2 Immune support supplements - I would begin taking Shark Fin Cartilageand Beta Glucan
#3 Antimicrobial supplement: Olive Leaf Extract
… Just some things that I would begin doing. Good luck. Seagate Customer Service

Hi! I just had a couple of questions. First, I had a baby 5 months ago and was told before hand I had strep b, so I had to get a round of antibiotics before giving birth. Ever since then I have not felt the same. Achy body, always tired and runned down. What do you recommend? Also, my newborn daughter has since also had eczema and reflux, which I believe came from the antibiotics. What do you recommemd for her? Last question: I have two other daughters ages 10 & 8. Do you recommend any preventive supplements to take? Thanks for everything and your products!
Seagate replies - Hello Teresa- For your first and last question we recommend BetaGlucan as an immune boosting product. It also has 650 mg. of shark cartilage included in each capsule, which is good for achy joints. For eczema I would use the OliveViate topical. For children’s preventatives we have a child-size version of the beta glucan calledBeta 204 which has 4 mg of beta glucan with 200 mg. of carrot. As a preventative we asssume they are on the right diet - no junk, minimum of sugar, etc plus plenty of exercise- because a couple of capsules of a supplement will not counter the effects of poor diet and lifestyle. Hope this helps. Seagate Customer Service

I am curious about the effect that OLE (anti-microbial) has on gut bacteria taken via probiotic supplement (microbes). Does OLE counteract the probiotic when they are taken together?
Seagate replies- Hi Kelly - The OLE is anti-microbial, but olives and olive leaves have been part of our food chain for many thousands of years and therefore will not affect the good bacteria. For example, in Greece and Italy they use olive leaves as ingredients in their meals. Also, in the the 12-plus years we have been producing this product, we have never had a single case reported where anyone got “the runs” from using it. Thank you.

Is the olive leaf capsules safe for our dog? She has a bladder infection caused by small stones that they say needs surgery but I want to exhaust all natural remedies before I contemplate this measure. She is not doing well on antibiotics. They are upsetting her digestive system and are adding to the problem. Thanks for the information.
Seagate replies - Hi Linda - Please understand that we do not conduct any animal testing. In the 12 years producing the olive leaf extract, we have been made aware that many customers have been using it on their animals (dogs, cats, even horses). We have never had any adverse reaction reported by anyone for either people or pets. So you probably won’t have any problem and likely could do some good for your pet. You might also consider finding another Vet and asking their opinion.

Do any of your topicals help with psoriasis?
Seagate replies - Try the OliveViate. It seems to help with most skin problems and rashes.

Dear Richard,
Recently my husband and I started taking Nopal Cactus but we’ve noticed that our breath is not all that pleasant and I’m wondering if you’ve had other comments about “bad breath” with the Nopal Cactus?
Thanks for your integrity in the vitamin/herbal industry!
Hello Judy - Nope, not a single comment about bad breath from anyone taking the Nopal. Perhaps there is something else you are both eating or experiencing together besides the Nopal Cactus? It is just fiber and absorbs, but does not give off odors. Richard

Which product would be better for tailbone pain, shark cartilage or shark fin cartilate? Also, powder or capsules?
Thank you
Seagate replies - The regular shark cartilage is what we recommend for joint “issues”. We are not allowed to claim that it works for joint pain.

Hi Richard, I learned of you company by watching Know the Cause. After months of research into Dougs concepts and theories I decided to purchase your Olive Leaf Capsules and Nasal Spray. IN the past several years I’ve had high anti-biotic exposures that have taken there toll. With in weeks of beginning the diet and supplements I saw a dramatic change. Life long migraine headaches dissapeared, no longer snore, lost 30 lbs in the first 30 days and now after 120 days a total of 47 lbs. Using your products and NSC24’s I have been able to change my life for the better. Many of my friends noticed the great change and are onboard also and using your products. I can’t say enough good things about your products and dealing with your complany. I just ordered 50 bottles of Olive Leaf Capsules for my Sunday School Class on nutrition and the Bible. All of the members are excited to try and get healthy. Thanks for a great product and great company to deal with. I also use the shark cartilage and shark liver oil. My joint pain has been reduced as well as now I seem to think clearer and my memory has improved.
Dear Charlie - I am very happy that these products have helped you! Richard

I also learned about your company from Doug and boy am I glad that I did! Everyone in my family, including my dogs, use at least one of your products. Keep up the good work and I’ll continue to spread the word to others interested in health.

The last 2 times I used Olive Leaf Extract, I vomited violently with what seemed like my stomach lining coming up which lasted half a day. This seemed like a very bad Herximer reaction, but it happened 2x.
So I am leery now to try it again.
I’ve also been recently diagnosed with Ulcerated Colitis. Based on past reviews I would like to try your brand. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I prefer naturals to prescription meds.
Seagate replies — Just so everyone understands that those last 2 times you used olive leaf extract …. it was not Seagate’s. There are two possible causes of your reaction, but Herxheimer is not likely one of them. The Herxheimer reaction is generally just a mild allergy-like reaction caused by the fungal die-off which then release their micotoxins into the body. Some people are allergic to these micotoxins. However, we have never heard of any Herheimer reaction being this severe. Therefore, there are two real possibilities to cause your reaction–
1) There are now hundreds of brands of olive leaf extract on the market, but only a handful of companies in the U.S. that really manufacture their own product besides Seagate. Some of the material coming into this country even comes from China. The companies that don’t produce the extract themselves really have very little idea about its quality or potency.
2) The other likely possibility is that you had a strong allergic reaction to the olive leaf extract itself which was not a quality problem. This can cause vomiting. We see this sort of thing maybe once a year. It is rare but it does occur. You can contact our office using the contact form on our home page or by calling us at 1-888-505-4283 and request a sample of olive leaf extract capsules and test your reaction to it before your make an order. Thank you. Seagate Customer Serrvice

Richard,
I have been applying Olive Viate Antifurgal, VitalNasal Spray and Smooth Skin (day use) for my 9 yr old son who has eczema since last month. For the last 2 weeks, his skin breakup again. I also try to give him 1 capsule of OLE each day. Right now, I have ordered the Smooth Skin (night use) since the day use almost gone and BETA Glucan with carrot to try on him. (NOTE: Almost a year ago, Dermatologist gave him the prescription Steorid cream to try; but I didn’t buy it after finishing the sample.) Please help.
Hi Mandy - I am not sure what VitalNasal Spray is. However, the Olive Viate should help the eczema if you stick with it for a while. Richard

Hi Richard,
I have used your Shark Fin Cartilage off and on for the last for years for myself. The product has never disappointed me. I have a couple of questions perhaps you could shed some light on. I have two mini-dautsies. 11yrs. & 8yrs. old. They both have enlarged hearts.the younger one has multiple issues. Enlarged Heart, Leaky Valve & has had Cancer. Is Shark or Fin a major concern with heart issues? She had been on heart mds. quite a while back from the Vet & Rimadyl and they seemed to worsen her condition. So they were d’cd several months ago. The shark Fin seems to perk her up but could it cause severe diarrhea & vomitting in dogs or possibly internal bleeding with heart issues? Thanks & Blessings! I realize you aren’t a doctor but you are familiar with these products.
Seagate replies - Neither the shark fin nor the shark cartilage should affect the heart, cause internal bleeding, diarrhea or vomiting. We do not do any animal-testing, however in the 16 years producing these 2 products we have never had any person or animal have that sort of extremem reaction. The only adverse reaction we have seen was just allergic if the person had fish allergies. I suppose if a dog were allergic to the fish, it might also try to vomit it. But that is pretty unlikely. Hope that helps … Richard

My husband has diabetes and has been taking the OLE for a few weeks. He had pneumonia last April and had still been coughing up brown stuff until shortly after taking the OLE. He isn’t as exhausted as he had been. The only thing is he has noticed his Blood Sugar Levels have been elevated lately. He has been trying some natural remedies to help lower them but they don’t seem to come down as they should. Have you had other diabetics that have taken the OLE get elevated blood sugars? I didn’t know if the micotoxins being released into his system could be causing the elevation. On a separate note. Our 8 year old son started getting a cold a couple of weeks ago and normally he would have been sick for a week… we gave him the OLE and by the next day he was doing better and never got worse! Thanks!
Seagate replies — Hi Melissa, In the 13 years manufacturing this Olive Leaf we have never heard of anyone taking it that thought it caused their blood sugar levels to go up. But anything is possible so we cannot entirely rule it out, though this reaction is very doubtful the result of the olive leaf. However, we have had a lot of experience (16 years) with the shark cartilage reducing blood sugar levels as a side-effect. I would start off slowly and gradually increase it by a capsule per day while carefully monitoring the blood sugar level daily. Usually by the time you reach 6 capsules/day, it can take effect. Just be careful if it does kick in, to allow for adjustment of either the meds or the shark cartilage so as not to get hypoglycemic.

After my posting regarding olive leaf extract from another company that made me vomit, Richard sent me a free sample. I am happy to say that after 3 days of testing Seagate, I feel fine! I just placed an order for more!
Thanks for your reply and help! I am impressed with your caring and answers.

Hi Richard,
Can you tell me how many milligrams of EPA and DHA are in a capsule of your shark liver oil?
Richard replies - Hello Matt- Our omega-3 shark liver oil webpage provides this information which I copied and pasted for you below:
Composition: Seagate Shark Liver Oil (SLO) has a 30% composition of omega-3 fatty acids, which include EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid – 9.1%) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid – 16.1%). This is considered to be a very high level for fish oil. In addition, this SLO contains trace (.1%) amounts of squalene.
Thank you - Richard

What products would help clear up severe psoriasis ? I am doing Doug’s diet, about 2 mo. and taking probiotics. I take 2 of your olive leaf a day. Thanks ps I also have sore knee joints, what would maybe help for that as well.
Seagate replies - Hi Ron - For the psoriasis, I would use the OliveViate. For the joints it would be the Shark Cartilage. In fact that is what I used to use for my knee — I have bone-on-bone in one knee. However, I rarely need to use the shark cartilage any more. Its not something that you would have to use forever. Hope that helps … Richard

Richard,
If I take Nopal Cactus before a meal will it affect the absorption of vitamins that I also take with my meals?
Thank you for your time.
Seagate relies — Hi Bob — The Nopal will temporarily absorb and hold water and anything else that is water-soluble (ie sugar and vitamins). However, after a couple of hours of digestion it is all released except the Nopal’s fiber which is indigestible, will work its way down the pipe and out the colon.

My mother (85) takes coumadin to thin her blood. Naturally, she’s supposed to avoid green veggies - she stays sick w/ upper respiratory infections and is on antibiotics constantly. Just wondering if the OLE would interfere w/ the coumadin…thanks!
Seagate replies - Dear Anita - The Olive Leaf has not been tested for any drug interaction since it is not a medicine. However, for all the years we have been producing it beginning in1997, we have never heard of a single case of it having any side effect or interfere with any drug. However, with a person this age and if there is any doubt, you should always check with your health care professional … and if its the same doctor thats been prescribing all those antibiotics most likely he will tell you to keep her on the antibiotics. Due to potential liability issues, we are not allowed to tell you to ignore your physician’s recommendations However, obviously what she is doing now is not working.

I heard Richard on Know the Cause today and I thought I heard him say OLE could help with high blood pressure - then I read this on the blog? Did I misunderstand him today?
Thank you
Seagate replies- Hello Peggy- We have been getting more anecdotal reports from some customers about the olive leaf extract possibly lowering blood pressure since that comment below placed last Novermber. However, nothing yet that can be proven either way. Doug seems to believe that this is very likely to be occurring. It would be great if it were true.

Hello Richard,
I truly enjoy your comments on Doug Kaufmann’s shows! I have been truly blessed by his show and your comments/products.
My question is this..(you don’t have to post this if you think it would be best not to)… Could you make an inhaler /w the olive leaf powder or liquid? Even, maybe, with the grape leaf? I think this may be a great benefit to people who have respiratory problems. I got this idea from seeing you in the olive leaf room covered in green. It has played over in my mind since.
Thanks for all you do for us in your work!
Richard replies- Hi Patricia. I actually use the olive leaf throat spray as an inhaler when I get congestion in my lungs. Having experienced breathing the powder, it would not be a healthy thing to do on a regular basis. The throat spray does help. Thank you for the kind words.– Richard

I have been taking OLE for a couple of months now trying to clear up my skin. I am a 40 year old women with the pleasure of adult acne…still! I started out taking 2-3x a day then 3-3x a day now I’m at 4-3x a day. I’ve seen significant results on my face but not as much on my back. Any suggestions for the back? I do have hypothyroidism so it may be a lost cause…I’m not sure.
Thanks.
Seagate replies - Hi Dawn, if you can get someone to help apply it, try the Smooth Skin. We have had very good success with people using it on their face for acne. If you don’t have anyone to help you with your back application. the second best choice (it has a sprayer) is the Stop Rash.

I just heard from a friend in church who has had severe sinus infections and headaches, but was basically “cured” of her malady by taking your OLE sinus spray. I have had the left side of my head stuffed up since last October. A round of antibiotics and Prednisone in March helped for awhile, but after two weeks it was back, as stuffy as ever. I’ve been trying to find more info about this product, but when I try to link to anything regarding this particular product, all I get is a blank page. Kudos to Richard Lenz and the Seagate Company! I currently use the Olive Leaf Nasal Spray, Olive Leaf Throat Spray, Olive Viate, and Shark Cartilage (for my dog). I would like your readers to know that I used the nasal & throat sprays during a recent bout with the flu. These two products reduced the “down-time” significantly. My recovery was quick! Wonder if you have any products, or suggestions for ring in the ear? I have loved your line for many years now. Thanks so much, for any, and all your help.
Seagate replies - Hello Paula - We do make Earache Remedy, a natural homeopathic medicine for earaches. It is also naturally antimicrobial. It is not specifically designed for ringing. It really depends upon what is causing the ringing. Some people report that it has helped this symptom. Therefore it might be worthwhile trying.

In regard to Shark Oil Omega-3 gel caps - web site mentions that it has more Omega-3 than other brands. Does this mean that if practitioner says to take 2000 mg, I could take less of this product to get the same benefit? (or not) Currently taking 8 gel caps. Thanks for any feedback on this and for Seagate products - we use many of them.
Seagate replies– Hello Moriah - For the record, we never make statements like the one you wrote above “that it has more Omega-3s than other brands”. If you look at our shark liver oil webpage you will see that it says “Seagate Shark Liver Oil (SLO) has a 30% composition of omega-3 fatty acids, which include EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid – 9.1%) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid – 16.1%). This is considered to be a very high level for fish oil. In addition, this SLO contains trace (.1%) amounts of squalene.” We try to stay away from those sorts of statements that ours is bigger and better or has more of etc. However we do point out that we are one of the few brands that processes our own fish oil in our own factory.
Now in answer to your question, it is important to note whether your doctor is specifying 2000 mgs of omega-3s or 2000 mgs of fish oil. We do not separate omega-3s and sell them separately. Also, we use a small easy-to-swallow 250 mg. softgel capsule so that children can take this supplement. To see how much omega-3s you are taking — in our case you multiply the total mgs in the shark liver oil by 0.30. If the fish oil caps you are presently taking contain less than 30% omega-3s, then you would not need to take as much Seagate shark liver oil to get the same level.

Would the Olivate Topical ointment help a keloid scar?

Lady at our local (organic) health food store advised me to take olive leaf extract for no more than 10 days, just as you would a prescription antibiotic. Would you comment on this please? I initially used it for problems with sinus/allergy which was alleviated for a long time but has now returned but in a much more minor way.
Seagate replies - Hello Jeanne, you are correct in questioning that advice because it is not really correct. Olive Leaf Extract is not a medicine and therefore there is not 10-day use period for it to be taken. In fact, for most problems, you just take it as long as you need. There are no side-effects or problems taking it for weeks or months.
July 6th, 2009 at 9:37 am
Richard,
Thank you so much for the integrity and purity of your products!
I was put on a supplement that has EPA-600mgs and DHA-400mgs per softgel.
Do you have a product that is equal to or greater in the amount of EPA and DHA?
Seagate replies - Hi Dana, We purposely use smaller softgels for the shark liver oil which contain 250 mgs. of shark liver oil, of which 30% is omega-3 fatty acids. So you should be comparing things based upon the percentage of omega-3s, since some products use 1000 mg capsules. Also, it is unusual for a fish oil tobe above 30% in total omega-3s unless the company was buying a concentrate of those fatty acids that had been chemically separated and concentrated. We don’t use chemicals to concentrate the omega-3s and just encapsulate them in the exact proportion that they are provided by Nature in the shark livers.

putian pride.com has a tracking site so you can track you shipments on usp and will save al lot of people calling to see where the shipment are . thanks
Seagate Replies -Hello Delbert,
Never heard of “Putian Pride”. There is no such thing as USP — perhaps you meant USPS which is the US Postal Service. UPS which is the United Parcel Service. It is not possible to track USPS. The smaller and lighter weight orders are shipped by mail … so these are not trackable. However, on orders that we ship UPS (larger orders), our program does email customers a tracking code for their shipments.
Thank you for your comments.

I saw a question from Teresa about thyroid, but did not see an answer … so my question is, what would you recommend for hypothyroidism. My doctor has prescribed Levothyroxine. I would prefer a more natural remedy. Would any of your products be helpful? Thank you
Seagate replies- Hello Cynthia-We do not give medical advice on this blog. That’s probably why you did not see an answer. We are not allowed to tell people that they can take the Seaweed and that it would threat a thyroid disease. However, we can tell you that it is a very good source of iodine.

Hi,
Just have a question that I don’t see an answer for on your blog. I started the Phase 1 diet on May 9 and then added Seagate Fungus cleanse products on July 2nd. I thought I would have a hard time with the diet but have done extremely well with no cravings. I actually feel great and have lost 10 lbs. I have noticed this week that I have had several areas on my skin that look like boils. They stay about 3 days, never come to a head, then slowly begin to go away. I did use the Olive-viate on the areas. I wondered if this was a reaction to the fungus cleanse.
Thanks.
Seagate replies - Hello Marie- We have actually not had anyone else reporting this reaction of temporary boils forming on the skin as a side-effect. Usually the reaction to a fungal die-off is the Hexheimer reaction, which is more like a mild cold or allergic reaction which goes away after a couple of days.

Seagate responds - It all depends upon the reason you are giving the child the olive leaf (ie. Is the child fighting a cold, stomach ache… ?) that determines how much and how often. However if I were going to give a small infant olive leaf extract, in general I would not give more than the amount in one capsules per day. I would open the capsule and pour a half capsule into some food like applesauce. The olive leaf extract is classified as a supplement not a medicine and therefore there is no specific dosage.

KNOW THE CAUSE BY DOUG KAUFMAN IS BECOMING WIDLY KNOWN IN THE SOUTHEAST. HOWEVER WE DONOT HAVE DISTRIBUTION OF YOUR PRODUCTS. SHIPPING COST HAS BECOME A FACTOR IN PURCHASING FROM WEST TO EAST COAST. WHEN CAN WE EXPECT A SOLUTION?
Seagate replies - Hello Richard,
This is in direct answer to your blog posting. We ship to 1500 health food stores around the country. To locate the nearest store, go to our home page and click on the box “locate a store in your area” at the bottom left hand corner of the home page. This locator will show you the 5 nearest stores to your zip code. You also mention that “shipping cost has become a factor in purchasing coast to coast”. Actually, that is not true in the case of Seagate. We have been offering free shipping for online orders if you use the coupon code 708 (shown on the top of our home page) in the promotional code box before checking out. Otherwise, our shipping costs are really very reasonable — we have been charging $4.00 per order flat rate for over 6 years.
Thank you.

have been on olive leaf extract for a week. Is it okay to also take magnesium glucinate along with the olive leaf extract?
Seagate replies — We looked up magnesium glucinate on the internet and the closest thing we found was a product called magnesium gluconate. That product has a lot of warnings listed which have nothing to do with olive leaf extract. Keep in mind that olive leaf extract is a supplement, not a medicine. It is not tested against other medicines for side-effects. Since 1997 when we began producing the olive leaf, we have never had any report of any adverse side effect from any customer. If you have concerns, you should first check with your health care professional.

Does OLE protect againt Swine Flu?
Seagate replies - Hello Sandy, Olive Leaf Extract is a supplement and therefore we cannot make any medical claims. However, I can tell you that I do take it regularly for “immune support” especially if I am going to be in places that are likely to have a lot of germs — schools, airports, hospital visits.

Dear Richard:
I am so grateful to seagate you cannot imagine. I was diagnosed with Hashimotoes in 2000. Sence then pain began to increase greatly until I could no longer walk, work, sleep. My pain level became so great the Dr. began to give me steroid shots which helped considerably but I am worried about damage to bones. I saw you on Know the Cause which I had never watched; I began to take ole and immediately my pain in my knees left same day. I also had several fluid filled systs on my fingers from excessive inflamation of joints and they began to dry up. Now a month later syst is gone. I still have much pain in my hands and muscles but I can walk and work and bend Praise
God. I need more info. for rest of pain and my thyroid. My medication (Armour) is no longer being produced I am deathly allergic to synthetic thyroid do you know of anything I can do? Dr. said she can do nothing for me. Thank You
Seagate responds - Hello Valerie. We are very happy that the olive leaf has helped you. With regard to your thyroid, sorry but we are not doctors and cannot give out medical advice.

Does your shark cartilage contain any levels of mercury?
Seagate replies - No, our shark cartilage contains no heavy metals (mercury, cadmiun, lead or arsenic). The area of concern with sharks and other higher order predators like tuna and swordfish is the fatty tissue in the meat and the livers. In the case of our shark liver oil, our livers contain no mercury. However, we put the shark liver oil through a 3-day process to make certain that there are no heavy metals, pcbs, or pesticides. The cartilage is a part of the shark that does not have any problem.

Hello, I recently got my daughter to start the OLE. She is taking 2 pills per day and also 1 pill of Dr. Ohira’s probiotics. after two weeks of this she told me she had started loosing some hair. she said not alot but more than usual for her. She suffers from dry scalp. Could this hair loss be due to the OLE? Thanks

Richad, For the last 5 years I have been dealing with gut problems and endless Dr. visits. only last week I found out that I do have a bacterial overgrowth in my small intestine. Through out my life fungus has always loved me, you name it I had it. 5 years ago a new girl friend came into my life. She had a certain oder “down there”. Later I recognized it on my breath.
Though she’s gone now, the smell of my breath is a reminder; semi sweet/sour, all night long, it comes from my gut. My symtoms are- mild 24/7 gut pain, toe nail fungus all my life, sleep deprivation, gloged sinuses, ichy scalp, bladder infections, yeast infections, bad knees, foged memory, difficulty concentrating and now my eye site is starting to go “could be cause I’m 45″. I’m ordering OLE tonight and I will follow up with everyone in 3 months just before Christmas and give you a real honest report. I’m excited and I look forward to to my results.

do I take OLE 2 in the morning and 2 at night? How does the mold, fungus ect. get out of the boby?
Seagate replies - Hello Vera- Olive Leaf Extract is not a medicine and therefore there is no exact dosage. We recommend that people take 2-4 capsules a day for maintenance and 6-9 per day for more “support”. Fungus is a germ and like any other germ that dies in your body, it is transported out by one of any of your bodies systems (ie. lymph system) that help to remove dead cells.

Hi Richard,
I just bought shark cartilege for my husband and I and we both started having cramping and diahrea..is this common? Also, the shark cartilege has a very strong fish smell. I know on Doug Kauffman he talks about Nordic Naturals products not having this odor because it is so fresh, does that mean shark cartilege is not as fresh? Thankyou for the free shipping! you guys are really concerned in helping people, not so with other companies!
Richard replies — Hello Linda Ray - Sorry you are having trouble wit the shark cartilage. We (Seagate) have been continuously producing it since 1993. Ocassionally people (fortunately just a very few) do get upset stomachs or diahrea from it for the following reasons — either they have trouble digesting it (it is high in protein), or are allergic to it, or are just reacting to its strong fishy smell.
Unfortunately shark cartilage has a very strong fishy smell even though we freeze-dry it and the raw material we process is very fresh. This is the natural smell of this product. Years ago when there were many brands of shark cartilage on the market (very few of which were actually processing their own cartilage) we found that most of the products had no smell. In fact we were criticized because Seagate’s had a strong fishy smell while the other brands did not. I was curious as to why that was happening, so I sampled 15 of the other leading brands of shark cartilage that were on the maket (1996-97)and had independent labs test them. The results were that very little of the shark cartilage being sold was really shark cartilage … most was cut with a lot of fillers. One of the brands — Lane Labs actually sued us for $20 million in federal court in 1997 because we published these findings in a booklet and distributed throughout the industy …. and they were one of those brands. We ended up winning the lawsuit.
So first we recommend to people who are sensitive to the smell that they not to stick their nose in the bottle before taking it. Sounds silly but usually most of any bad reaction can be eliminated if people stop trying to smell the botle. We also produce shark liver oil just like Nordic Naturals and you are correect — Good fish oil has a mild fishy odor. Our shark liver oil has a very mild “ocean” smell. Nordic Naturals is an excellent brand of fish oil … but they do not produce shark cartilage.
If you are still having trouble with the shark cartilage, stop taking it and contact our office - 1-888-505-4283. Sorry for any discomfort. Regards - Richard

Can any of your products be taken while pregnant? I am in the second trimester and would take Olive Leaf Extract if it is ok. Any other suggestions on how to keep my resistance up and healthy during this flu season? Don’t want a shot!
Seagate replies - Hello Denise-
I don’t blame you. No one in our office is going to have a flu shot this year. It is also very unusual for anyone here to get sick. We do not test any of our products on pregnant women and therefore cannot tell you to take or not to take them. Olive Leaf Extract would be a good product to take during the flu season, as would Beta Glucan. I can tell you that we are aware that pregnant women have been using these products. Also, in all the years we have been producing all of these products we have never heard from anyone reporting a negative side-effect or drug interaction. However, we advise that if you have any doubt or need a definitive answer to this question, you should always check with your health care provider. Thank you.

Hello Seagate,
We are having excellent results using the Olive Leaf Extract. Keep up the good work (pills, nasal and throat spray) as well as the Nopal Cactus.
In the Olive Leaf Extract, is the product 100% leaf or does the Extract contain the stem too?
Would use of the oil from the stem of the Olive Tree boost the power of the Extract?
Thanks for the update,
Light
Seagate replies - Hello John- The oil from the olive tree comes from the fruit. We harvest the fruit each winter and make an extra virgin olive oil. However, in the production of olive leaf extract we hand pick th leaves from the branches. There will be a few stems that may pass through the process and are turned into powder. It happens that the branches, stems, bark, roots and of course the leaves from the olive tree have the same properties. However, we focus on the leaves when we make olive leaf extract. If there is any oil in the stems it is not significant. We are glad that the product is helping you.

I have thrush for about a year tryed everything, nystain, caprylic acid, olive leaf extract, oil of organo, cut down on sugar, Don’t know what else to try. Can you help.
Seagate replies - If I had this problem, I wouldn’t just “cut down” on sugars .. I would go off sugars and carbohydrates entirely until I got it under control. I would go on Doug Kaufmann’s Phase I diet; take Olive Leaf Extract but this time I would open a capsules and pour the powder into my mouth and hold it there for at least 10 minutes (be aware –it does not taste good). I would also spray my mouth several times a day with Olive Leaf throat Spray and also hold that liquid in my mouth and swish it around for a few minutes. Fiinally, if I had diabetes or HIV I would seek medical advice because thse could compromise your immune system and I would possibly get on a prescription such as diflucan.

Dear Richard Lenz of Seagate Company
Hi Richard, We’ve been watching you for a long time on knowthecause.com. Five of our six family members (Us and our four kids) each have their own three part Seagate first aid kid consisting of your olive leaf nasal spray, throat spray and ear drops. And all five of us can and do take your olive leaf pills every now and then. Our question is this: Our 12 year old son recently looked like he was coming down with the flu starting with a soar throat so we immediately started him on Olive leaf extract pills every morning for about 6 days in addition to making sure he used the throat spray and nose spray. He did get better it seemed pretty quickly but it was obvious that when he was at his worst he was fighting something very bad. The oddest thing in the entire time he was sick was this: He slept very hard and very long for most of the days he was the most sick. Each day, when he came out of his room he actually seemed taller!
Now we know that 12 year olds can and do begin to grow without notice and quickly when they do spurt up but the way it coincided exactly with this sickness and with starting him on the olive leaf extract pills was unmistakable to us. It was very obvious to us that the pills were encouraging his growth spurt. He is a athlete and sweats most of the year in various sports with the exception of the wintertime.
He usually lives with dandruff, acne, foot fungus and a real mucousy nasally sound to the way he speaks and snores very distressfully at night and sleeps with his mouth opened and wakes up with terrible mucous everywhere. And this is all when he isn’t sick. This time, because he was actually getting a more acute problem with a sore throat and looking like he might be getting the flu etc we began him on Olive Leaf Extract pills in addition to the nose and throat spray.
Immediately he began to grow probably a total of 2 inches in 6 days. Is it possible that the cleaning him out of the fungus with the olive leaf pills could have somehow allowed his pituitary to kick in and allow him to grow right then when maybe his pituitary would have been inhibited at any other time because of the fungus all throughout his body? Do you think that if we had never had an occasion to clear up the fungus with the olive leaf extract that maybe he wouldn’t have grown those inches at that time in that short period of time?
Something more near and dear to us also is the fact that we also have a younger son (7 years old) who has enormous challenges in his life because he is on the Autism spectrum. He is smallish in size and lives with digestive issues and allergies and is very challenged. He unfortunately also doesn’t/can’t take pills so we don’t know how to get the olive leaf pills into him but we now want to get it into him. Is there a way to get him to take it? Other websites offer children’s non alcoholic liquid tincture and extract but we don’t know if we should trust their product. He won’t take anything grainy (can’t open a capsule and put it anything he would detect and reject that) He won’t take anything that tastes bad at all either. Any suggestions? And most important to us is this: Do you think your olive leaf extract will help his development (mentally, socially and height wise) like our other son as well as with his digestive issues like our other son?
Thank you so much for your products and your care in producing your products.
Robyn Smith Tweedy
Richard replies - Dear Robyn - First, thank you for taking the time to write and share your experience with the Olive Leaf Extract. There is nothing in the olive leaf extract that could cause any kid to suddenly grow. In the 13 years we have been processing and selling that product, we have never heard of anything like this occurring. With regard to your other child who cannot take capsules or grainy powders, you might try opening several capsules and mixing the powder into applesauce - the grainy texture should dramatically reduce. We are happy you have been having such good results. Regards - Richard

Hello, recently i have been tested positive for mycoplasma..
wondered if you know your product will help..
Thankyou
Seagate replies - Hello Chris - Sorry about the problem. However, we are not allowed to prescribe our products for medical conditions. I can answer your question in the following way–
What I would do if I had this is — check with my family physician because this can be serious and I would also take a lot of olive leaf extract . Best wishes. Seagate Customer Service

I first purchased your Olive Leaf Extract in Nov ‘09, ran out in mid Jan ‘10. Wondered if it was really helping me…surprise, surprise…it was/is! Shortly after running out my throat tickles, throat clearing, pain in nasal passages started up again! So this is one supplement that I will not do without! Thanks so much for your products!
