Seagate operations during this economy downturn

Economic times are now rough for everyone. Unfortunately the U.S. economy has been built during the last 20 years on inflated asset values and the subsequent mortgaging of these inflated values to allow consumers to over-extend themselves. The bubble burst and we now face a period of deflation. So how are we prepared and what does Seagate do to cope with this changing economy?

Seagate has the advantage of producing all of its own raw materials from our fishing and farming operations and processing them in our own factory. During the past 27 years, we have struggled with periods of inflation, recession, reorganization of our product lines, and even changing from one industry to another. As a fishing company, we retain the fishing philosophy – during the good years you save and pay off your debts so that you can survive the bad years. All of our earnings during the good years went to pay off debt and the remainder was invested into machinery and equipment to produce new products and to make existing production at lower and lower cost.

In order to lower our costs and become a more efficient producer, Seagate needs to maintain a steady volume. Therefore it has been no accident that you have seen us provide buy 1 get 1 specials, 10% discounts on large orders, free shipping … etc. Not only does this provide for good customer relations, the added volume helps our company to be more a more efficient manufacturer. During the past year, we have reversed a growing trend in the health food industry by shipping some of our products into China, where they are able to compete with Chinese-made health food products.

Fish is the best fertilizer for plants and vegetables. The Pilgrims first learned from Native Americans how to apply fish to fertilize their first crops. It is impossible to over-fertilize with fish. Dried Fish Fertilizer Concentrate contains a natural N-P-K (Nitrogen-Phosphorus-Potash) level of 11-5-1. Unlike the liquid fish emulsion that is preserved with high levels of acid, dried fish powder has no danger of burning the plants roots.

Seagate uses fish fertilizer exclusively on their organic farms. This use of the fish waste was initially designed in order to operate as a “green” company, in order not need to dump any fish washwater into the sewer system and annoy the neighbors downstream from the factory, or discharge fish cuttings into the town dump that could still have some value on the farm. However, the use of the fish waste immediately showed its benefits in the crop size and yield. Crops of tomatoes, garlic and carrots that were fertilized with fish became gigantic. Not only was there the potential for Seagate in savings by eliminating commercial purchases of organic fertilizer, but crop yields doubled.

Application methods: The simplest method to apply fish fertilizer powder to existing plants and flowers is to make a notch next to the root ball with a trowel, pour a tablespoon of fertilizer into the hole, and cover with dirt. For new plantings, pour a little fish powder into the hole before placing the new plant or seeds. The natural bacteria in the soil will slowly digest the fish providing the raw nutrients that will be absorbed into the soil and then by the plants’ root systems. For indoor plants, be sure to cover all the fish powder with soil to prevent the smell of decomposition from entering the room. For larger commercial operations such as Seagate’s, the fish can be plowed directly into the soil before planting. Alternatively for existing crops, Seagate has developed a drip irrigation method- First place some fish powder in an old sock (one without holes) and knot it. Place the sock in a bucket or barrel or water for several weeks (sealed), allowing the water to turn black from the bacterial decomposition. This water can then be added into your drip irrigation system.

The accompanying photo shows Sunflowers that grew a height of over 11 feet that were fertilized exclusively with the dried fish powder when the seed were originally planted in the Spring.

Most diet pills offering easy weight-loss, do so by affecting your metabolism which in turn can affect your mood and sense of stability. Nopal Cactus leaves are simply Nature’s storage tank for water that allows this plant to survive under drought and desert conditions. The high content of mucilaginous fibers in nopal holds the water inside the cactus leaves in a jelly-like gooey mass. This water-storage capacity has developed through natural selection over the millennia which allows the plant to retain its moisture in case of leaf breakage by a bird, rock or wind, so that all the water does not come pouring out. Hundreds of years ago, it was discovered in Mexico that the same properties allow the Nopal to be an excellent natural diet control aid.

Nopal cactus leaves are first cleaned, then freeze-dried and then ground into a fine powder. Once the nopal powder enters the stomach it quickly absorbs moisture like a sponge, giving you a natural feeling of fullness. In addition, the water-soluble sugars in the stomach are also absorbed and temporarily held in this mucilaginous mass. This temporary absorption by the fiber will help keep the blood sugar level from spiking immediately after a meal. Eventually, the water and sugars are released as this fibrous jelly-like mass works its way though the digestive system. As a third benefit, taking a lot of nopal cactus capsules can aid in colon-cleansing.

The FDA allows Seagate to put on the Olive Oil capsule label – that diets rich in monounsaturated fat, Oleic Acid, can reduce the incidence of heart disease. The amount of olive oil that is recommended daily to accomplish this goal is approx. 23 grams (23 of the 1000mg softgels). Those 23 softgels of olive oil represent 230 extra calories of fat which can cause you to gain weight. Therefore, a person would need to reduce the consumption of other fats in order not to gain weight.

In addition to olive oil, a diet rich in fish (oily fish not a fast-food fish fillet) can also help reduce cholesterol and heart disease. Unfortunately we are no longer a fish-eating society because – fish are smelly, difficult to cook, require that someone in the household actually prepares a meal rather than orders take-out food, has a strong taste, has become somewhat expensive to purchase, and may contain contaminants. Seagate omega-3 shark liver oil and marine protein fish capsules can be used as a fish substitute for the finicky consumer. The shark liver oil is completely cleansed of all contaminants in the Seagate factory. The marine protein capsules are made from sardines and anchovies, which are so far down the food chain that they have not yet had any contamination. Taking 4-6 capsules of Marine Protein capsules each day for lunch along with an apple will give you the equivalent of a fish meal each week and keep you from feeling hungry during the middle of the day.

A fourth supplement offering support for a healthy heart is grape seed extract. Seagate processes a combination of the grape skin with the grape seed to produce a whole grape extract, exactly in the proportion that is provided by Nature. It is an excellent bloodstream antioxidant, which helps keep the OH— (hydroxyl molecule) and other oxidative compounds from attacking blood vessel walls, the heart and body organs.. Independent lab testing of this extract, exposing it for a period of 1-year of continuous exposure to hydrogen peroxide, a very strong oxidative molecule, was unable to cause any detectable oxidation of this extract.
